Stella Young’s TEDxSydney talk popularized the critique of “inspiration porn”: disabled people do not exist so nondisabled people can feel luckier, braver, kinder, or more motivated. With sharp comic timing, she dismantles supposedly positive representations that turn disabled life into someone else’s moral consumption.
